Managing servers
Create game servers in the FeatherPanel admin area, set resource and feature limits, edit startup, suspend or warn owners, and soft or hard delete servers.
On this page
Admin area, Servers lists every game server with its owner, node, status and resources. Each row has View details, Edit server, Transfer server and Delete server. Before you can create a server you need a game location and node and at least one spell.
Creating a server
Create Server is a six-step wizard:
- Owner & Core Details. Name, owner, description.
- Location & Resources. Location, node and primary allocation.
- Application Setup. Realm, spell and Docker image. The spell’s starred default image is preselected, and its variables appear with their defaults.
- Resource Limits. Memory, swap, disk, CPU and IO (below).
- Feature Limits. How many databases, allocations and backups the owner may create.
- Review & Create.
“Use defaults and review” skips steps 4 and 5 with the default values. You can still change them on the review step.
Editing a server
| Tab | What you set |
|---|---|
| Details | Name, description, owner, external ID, expiry date, Skip Scripts, Skip Zero Trust, Show on Status Page, Auto Start on Node Reconnect with an extra delay of 0 to 3600 seconds. |
| Resources | Memory, swap, disk, CPU, block IO weight, OOM killer, CPU threads. |
| Application | Realm, spell and spell variables. |
| Limits | Database, allocation and backup limits, backup retention override. |
| Startup | Startup command, Docker image, custom environment variables. |
| Mounts | Attach the mounts allowed for this server. |
| Allocations | Add or remove allocations and pick the primary one. |
| Actions | Docker runtime, suspension, warnings, transfer, delete. |
Resource values
| Field | Rule |
|---|---|
| Memory (MiB) | 0 is unlimited, otherwise 128 MiB to 1 TiB. |
| Swap (MiB) | 0 disables swap, -1 is unlimited. |
| Disk (MiB) | 0 is unlimited, otherwise 128 MiB to 10 TiB. |
| CPU (%) | 100 is one full core. 0 is unlimited. |
| Block IO Weight | 10 to 1000, relative to other containers. |
| CPU Threads | Leave blank for all, or pin with 0, 0-1,3 or 0,1,3,4. |
| OOM Killer | Ends the server when it breaks the memory limit. |
Backup retention
The backup limit sets how many backups a server may keep; 0 disables backups. Retention can inherit the panel default (Settings, Servers), use a hard limit that blocks new backups when full, or FIFO rolling, which removes the oldest unlocked backup so scheduled backups keep running.
Startup
The startup command can use {{SERVER_MEMORY}}, {{SERVER_IP}}, {{SERVER_PORT}} and the spell’s variables. Custom
environment variables are synced to Wings without a transfer, and each can be encrypted so it is hidden after saving.
Actions
- Docker Runtime. Shows whether Wings sees the container as healthy. Force Reconcile clears stale Docker state and a stuck power lock and marks the server offline so it can be started again.
- Suspend. Needs a reason for staff. The owner is emailed and loses access until you unsuspend.
- Send Warning. Puts a warning in the panel for the owner, for example about high CPU use, and can email them.
- Transfer server. See Server transfers.
- Soft Delete removes the server through Wings, files included. Hard Delete only removes it from the panel and leaves its files on the node. Use it when the node is gone for good.

Frequently asked questions
Use Transfer server on the Actions tab or the server list. The node field on the Details tab is read only. See the server transfers guide.
Soft delete uses the normal flow, so Wings removes the server and its files. Hard delete removes the server from the panel only and leaves its files on the node.
Yes. Set an expiry date on the Details tab and the server is suspended automatically on that date.
